CHILDREN’S CHOIRS TO SING AT BLUE MOUND
At 6:30 pm on Sunday, March 30, Blue Mound United Methodist Church will host an evening service of special music presented by several children’s choirs from Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church in Lewisville. Under the direction of Victor Lozada, former choir director at Blue Mound and now Director of Children’s Music at Trietsch Memorial, the various young choirs, including the hand bell choir, will bring their music to Blue Mound on their first-ever road trip.
Land for the Trietsch Memorial church was given by Erwin “Pete” Trietsch, whose grandfather Franz Trietsch immigrated from Germany, settled in the Blue Mound community and became one of the founding fathers of the Blue Mound church. “Pete”, one of the sons of Fred and ClaraTrietsch, grew up in this community of German families before moving to the Lewisville area to earn a living raising chickens to market eggs to the Metroplex.
Children in the Trietsch Memorial choirs have asked questions about their church’s benefactor and his connection to Blue Mound. Windows of history will be opened between segments of music, giving the children glimpses of how life was when their Mr. Trietsch was growing up.
In the small world we live in, Director Lozada is married to one of the Trietsch descendants, Alyson Temple, whose grandmother Bobbie Trietsch is an active member at Blue Mound UMC today. Rev. Joe Foor has pastored Blue Mound since last summer and invites all to come hear the children sing and ring their hand bells, and to hear some of the history and stories of family and church life in the early days of this part of the country.
Blue Mound United Methodist Church is located just south of Milam Road at Exit 473 on the west frontage road of I-35 N between Sanger and Denton.
